Shares of streaming companies and major studios were higher Thursday, amid media reports that the unions representing writers and producers are close to an agreement to end a months-long strike.
Citing sources close to the negotiations, CNBC reported Wednesday night that the two sides were close to a deal following a face-to-face meeting earlier in the day. They were the first talks to be held since a breakdown in August when the writers described a meeting as a “lecture” from studio heads.
