Justice Thomas says he was advised he didn’t need to disclose GOP donor’s gifts

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on Friday responded to a report that he did not disclose major gifts from wealthy Republican donor Harlan Crow, saying he was advised he didn’t need to report them and indicating he would change his approach in the future.

Watchdog groups had on Thursday called for Thomas to provide an explanation after a ProPublica report said the Supreme Court justice, who has served longer than any other current justice, did not disclose the travel-related gifts provided over more than 20 years.
