Lynn Martin became president of the NYSE Group last year, just in time to usher it through Wall Street’s worst year since 2008. She’s just getting started.
Martin, 47, oversees the exchange, which lists 2,400 companies representing a market cap of roughly $33 trillion, four electronic equity exchanges, and two options exchanges. She also serves as chair of Fixed Income and Data Services for the Intercontinental Exchange, or ICE, NYSE’s parent.
The NYSE, which turns 231 years old in May, provides “the most efficient access to the most liquid markets,” Martin says. The initial public offerings pipeline remains strong, she says, and her team continues to enhance the exchange’s technology.
Jeff Sprecher, chairman and chief executive officer of ICE, says Martin’s early tenure “has coincided with a particularly volatile period for our markets that she and the exchange have handled in stride.”
Martin was named president of Interactive Data Corp. when it was acquired by ICE in 2015, and remained at the head of the operation, which became ICE Fixed Income & Data Services, until she took on her current role.
She serves on the boards of Manhattan College and the Inner-City Scholarship Fund.
