Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the fell 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the were Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:), which rose 2.61% or 180.00 points to trade at 7,070.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:) added 2.27% or 11.00 points to end at 496.00 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.04% or 150.00 points to 7,509.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:), which fell 4.96% or 59.00 points to trade at 1,130.00 at the close. Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:) declined 4.53% or 715.00 points to end at 15,065.00 and Ebara Corp. (TYO:) was down 4.49% or 270.00 points to 5,740.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2700 to 872 and 231 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.10% to 16.55.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.38% or 0.31 to $80.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.34% or 0.29 to hit $84.70 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 3.25 to trade at $2,032.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 131.29, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 143.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 101.52.
